I applaud that the city is looking for so much input. On the other hand, I'm scared by the comments on this website.
Yes, we need efficient ways to move about the city. The Gardiner can be apart of that. We also need to have a liveable city.
Good luck.

I believe the Gardner is an essential element to Toronto. It is a roadway used by many people both within Toronto, to bring people to Toronto and to take people home from Toronto. The 401 highway is busy enough, where would all the cars go that travel the Gardiner everyday? I travel the Gardner a few times per month and say to myself each time, where would all these people go without the Gardiner?
In terms of opening up the waterfront...I think the waterfront has been taken over by highrise condominiums, therefore the Gardiner expressway tucked in amongst these tall buildings is hardly even noticed. I wonder sometimes if the Gardiner is just in the way or more condos or as seen as an eyesore for people living in the condos.
We need to keep people coming to Toronto. If we make it so difficult for them to get to the city, they won't come. Unless there is a viable alternative to the Gardiner, which is not simply the Lakeshore, it is an essential entrance to Toronto. I think if it is taken away, it will ulitimately take people away from Toronto.
